　1．はじめに

　副咽頭間隙（parapharyngeal space）は局所解剖学的に複雑な場所であり，重要な血管，神経を含んでいる。しかし，臨床上は同部に病変の発症することは稀であり，しかも副咽頭間隙に発生する腫瘍は良性腫瘍がほとんどで，その頻度も低い。そのために耳鼻咽喉科医にとつて余り注目を集めない部位である。

　われわれは最近，副咽頭間隙に発生した良性腫瘍を手術的に摘出したのを機会に，経験例をもとに本邦報告例を集計し，その病態，病理組織，手術法の選択などについて考察を試みた。

　This paper reports 13 cases of parapharyngeal space tumors, and a comparison was made with other Japanese referense. The results were as follows.

　1) In cases of parapharyngeal space tumors, subjective symptoms were slight, and many of the patients visited clinics several years after the onset.

　2) The tumors were found mostly in youth or in the prime of life, but it was not rare to find them in infants and young children also. The incidence was slightly higher in woman than in man.

　3) There were few malignant tumors. Most of them were benign tumors such as neurilemmoma and so called mixed tumors.

　4) Most of them were removed intraorally, but extraoral incision was needed in some cases according to the size, degree of enlargement, and elasticity of the tumors. The prognosis was good if the tumors were removed completely with the surrounding capsules.
