80歳台高齢者喉頭癌の治療

TREATMENT OF LARYNGEAL CANCERS IN OCTOGENARIAN

　I．緒言

　わが国の平均寿命が近年大きく伸びてきた。1975年厚生省の簡易生命表によると，男の平均寿命は71.76歳，女は76.95歳になつている。喉頭癌においても年々高齢化現象がみられることをすでに指摘したことがある^1）。また80歳台の高齢者の喉頭癌も増加しており，その根治治療については従来は困難であるといわれてきたのであるが，われわれは積極的に根治治療を行なつて余命の延長に務めてきた。本論文においてその実態について報告する。

　With greater increase of life expectancy in recent years the incidence of laryngeal cancers among the aged has, also, increased.

　The authors have reported 26 cases of laryngeal cancer among patients whose ages were 80 years or more.

　Radical irradiation was administered in 16 patients, while total laryngectomy was performed in 11 cases, who were all tracheostmized previously.

　A clinical record of total laryngectomy performed on a patient, male, aged 87 years, is also included in the report.
