頸部肺ヘルニアの1例

PULMONARY HERNIA

　I．はじめに

　頸部肺ヘルニアは通常鎖骨上窩に，やわらかい腫瘤として触れる。咳嗽や力みによつて増大し，安静時は消失するのが普通である。大部分は腫瘤以外には無症状で治療を必要としないが，稀な疾患であるので今回経験した1例を報告する。

　A case of unilateral pulmonary hernia into the right suprasternal fossa of a boy, aged 6, is reported. The patient had a normal birth and growth until the age 3, when the parents noted a swollen mass appearing in the lower neck whenever the former laughed aloud. There was no history of having had attacks of severe coughing spell except that the patient had been more strenuous in crying as compared to other children. The authors opine that this condition might be due to the fact that the Sibson's fascia which covers the floor of the suprasternal fossa may be, either, weakened or absent.

　The child, at present, is not handicapped in any way otherwise, so nothing is being done towards treatment.
