　I．はじめに

　頸動脈小体腫瘍carotid body tumor^1）-4）は，頸動脈分岐部に存在する化学受容器，頸動脈小体carotid bodyより生ずる腫瘍で，まれな疾患である。同系統の腫瘍であるglomus jugulare tumor^5）-9），aortic body tumor，paraganglioma intravagaleなどとともにnonchromaffin paraganglioma，chemodectomaと呼ばれている。著者らは下顎角部腫瘤と運動時，同側の顔面が蒼白になるという珍しい症状を呈した1例を経験したので報告する。

　A case of a carotid body tumor is reported.

　A woman, aged 35, complained of swelling in the right side of the neck with a sudden onset of bleaching of the right half of the face during physical exercises.

　The examination revealed a definite tumefaction in the right side of the neck that seemed to recede in size with exertion of finger pressure. Visualization of the carotid artery confirmed the presence of the tumor. Under a low-blood-pressure anesthesia the tumor was removed surgically.
