I．はじめに
巨細胞腫は一般に長管状骨に発生することが多く，頭頸部領域に発生することは比較的稀である。側頭骨巨細胞腫については，外国ではStewart1），Paterson2），Selosóe3），Rosenwasser4）らにより報告されており，本邦においては，田中5）の報告を以て嚆矢とし，以後15例の報告がある。われわれも最近側頭骨に発生した巨細胞腫の1例を経験したので報告するとともに，本邦17例についての統計的観察も行なつたので併わせて報告する。
A farmer; aged 58, complained of pain and discharge of the left ear. Roengenographic examination showed bony destruction of the mandibular joint. The area was surgically exposed by Conley's skin incision with a finding of bony tumor which was immediately removed. The surrounding area was thoroughly curretted. Pathological diagnosis was concluded as Jaffe's Giant Cell Tumor, Grade Ⅰ.
A review of literature of this country revealed 17 similar cases reported. Of the 16 cases reported in detail, 10 cases were treated by operation alone while, 6 other cases were treated by means of operation combined with irradiation.
The authors fearing a possible post-radiation sarcoma treated the present case by operation alone.
