小児機能性難聴の新しい治療法について

A NEW METHOD FOR TREATMENT OF FUNCTIONAL DEAFNESS IN CHILDHOOD

　I．はじめに

　小児に見られる機能性難聴は，決して稀な疾患ではなく，われわれの臨床においても最近数例の患児がその診断の下に診療されている。本疾患は成書にこそその記載は少ないが，過去20年程の間に少なからざる研究報告があり，その症状，診断法などについては既にその大要が明らかにされていると言つても過言ではない。それらによると一般に小児の機能性難聴は成人のそれに比して予後は良く，われわれの経験でも，いつの間にか回復している例が少なくないのであるが，しかし中には，かなり長期にわたつて難聴を訴えて治癒し難く，場合によつては補聴器を使用しつつ数年間も難聴児としてとりあつかわれているといつた例さえ報告されている（Baar^1），その他）。

　われわれは最近難治性の本症症例に対して新しい治療法を試み，見るべき効果があつたのでここに報告して大方のご批判を得たいと思う。

　A new method for treatment of functional deafness in childhood is reported.

　A 13 year old girl complained of acute deafness of the right ear that developed during the course of treatment of recurrent otorrhoea of the same ear.

　Examination revealed that the hearing disturbance was due to nonorganic in origin.

　The treatment consisted of occluding the right external ear canal tightly with cotton plug saturated with antibiotic ointment for about 10 days. After the removal of this plug the hearing was found to be approximately normal.
