頸動脈小体腫瘍の1例

A Case of Carotid Body Tumor

　緒言

　頸動脈小体腫瘍は化学的受容体である頸動脈小体から発生する比較的稀な腫瘍であり，極めて血管に富むため摘出が困難なことで知られている。今回われわれは，MRI （Magnetic Resonance Imag-ing）が診断に有用であり，また双極電気凝固器（バイポーラー）を用いて少量の出血で全摘し得た症例を経験したので報告する。

A 69-year-old woman, who complained of dis-comfort of throat, had a soft tumor in left upper neck. MRI study showed multiple flow voids in and around the tumor in transverse section, and the sagittal section revealed the tumor sitting be-tween the internal and external carotid arteries, which was similar to the finding of carotid angio-graphy. The tumor was completely removed surgically with minimal bleeding using bipolar electrocoagulator. Histologically, the tumor was paraganglioma.
