Tetracainとコカイン実際使用について

　緒言

　耳鼻咽喉科領域に於いては1日として塗布麻酔剤を使用しない日はないが，Tカイン（米国ではTetracain）がコカインの代用薬であるが如き印象を多くの医師は持つておられるので，こゝに私の経験と考えを述べて臨床各医家の御参考になれば幸甚である。

Ogura and associates find that, due to recent tendency towards increased number of endos-copy being performed in various hands, acute poisoning by local anesthetic agents, cocain hydrochloride and tetracain, particularly by the latter, has notably come to the fore. Such an increase in the number of toxicosis by these agents in this country may be relegated to the fact that, the authors state, the agents may be used somewhat indifferently here as compared to similar usage in America. The authors discuss differences in usage of cocain and tetracain by including their own clinical experiences; the advantages and disadvantages in the use of instillation or insufflation; the cause of toxicosis and the symptoms that may be manifested in such a case. And finally they deliniate the method of treatment of toxicosis brought on by these narcotic agents.
