耳硬化症に対する内耳開窓術の輝かしい聴力恢復成績の挙げられているにつれて，慢性中耳化膿症，中耳根治手術後の難聴，並に癒着性中耳炎の難聴恢復に向つて幾多の努力が払われて，次第に成果を挙げつゝある。
こゝに於て私が1952年来行い来つて，順次改変した方法を省みると共に，文献上に聴力恢復を目的とし，又は術後聴力恢復せるものの手術法について記載し，今後この方面の研究に役立でば幸と思う。
Goto describes a method of operation on the ear by which not only the existing pathological conditions such as chronic otitis media, infla-mmatory adhesions and postoperative conti-nuation of the inflammatory states are elimi-nated but, hearing in that ear is regained. The means by which infections may be prevented, the indications for the operation as well as the mechanism by which hearing may be re-established are discussed. A review of current literature dealing with similar subject is made.
