口蓋扁桃腺全摘出術後の口蓋垂の変型に就ては1948年Froeschellsの報告があるが，我国に於ては余り此の問題に就ては触れられていない。私は少数例ではあるが，扁摘前後に口蓋垂を測定し，其変型に就いて観察を行い，次の結果が得られたので報告する。
TAKEDA investigates among children the effect of tonsillectomy on morphological changes of the uvula. Mensuration on the uvula is taken on 60 patients before operation and on 35 after. It is found that postoperati-vely, the uvula is shortened in its length by an average of 0.21cm and is broadened at its base line by an average of 0.11cm. The chan-ges that may thusly occur appear to be less in girls than boys; more marked in children whose tonsils were moderately hypertrophied than those that were either, markedly or less so.
