　序言

　鼻科疾患特に慢性副鼻腔炎患者に注意力散漫，記憶力減退等の精神障碍のある事は諸氏の記載する所で，当疾患の精神機能に就ては鈴木，森，早川氏等の業績を見る。

　余等は先に本誌（25巻，9号）上に於て該疾患患者の智能指数，精神作業能力の休憩効果率，向性指数に就て其の平均は何れも健康者に比して低く，統計学的に見ても有意の差を認めたと報告したが，其後当疾患々者に就て実験を行つた成績を報告し，諸賢の御批判を懇はんとするものである。

ICHIHARA and associates using groups of High School students as material of study investigate the influence of chronic sinusitis on the capacity of mental work. The students are divided into groups (A) of normal health and of those who are affected with chronic sinusitis. The latter group is subdivided fur-ther into group (B) who are considered as affected with nasal symptoms alone and (C) those who are affected with aprosexia nasalis. It is shown that there is very little difference in mental capacity of groups (A) and (B) but, that of group (C) when compared to group (A) a marked lowering is noted.
