　はじめに

　脂肪腫は，間葉系腫瘍の中で，もっとも発生頻度が高く，頸部は脂肪腫の好発部位の一つだが，ほとんどが表在性脂肪腫であり，深在性脂肪腫は少ないとされている。

　今回，側頸部より頭蓋底まで進展した，巨大な深在性脂肪腫の1例を経験したので報告する。

A 59-year-old male presented with a large tumor of the neck occuping the left entire neck and expanding to the base of skull. The preope-rative diagnosis was lipoma, according to adipose tissue density by CT scanning and high intensity by MRI. Under general anesthesia, the tumor was removed. The tumor separated into several lobes and was 17×13 cm in size, 340 g in weight. CT scanning and MRI as preoperative examination were useful and indispensable to make the diag-nosis of lipoma.
