　消毒を必要としないガス透過性ハードコンタクトレンズの装用者のレンズケア状況を把握するため，汚れを認めたレンズケースの微生物検査を試みた。外来やコンタクトレンズの定期検査を受診の患者から汚れを認めたレンズケースを35例回収した。レンズケース内の溶液を培養し，コロニーをグラム染色した。また，汚れの強いレンズケースを電子顕微鏡で観察した。細菌の陽性率は91％であった。約70％がグラム陰性桿菌であった。電子顕微鏡観察では，レンズホルダーのバイオフィルムの形成と球菌や桿菌，酵母型真菌の接着を認めた。以上のことから汚染されたレンズケースから感染の危険性が考えられた。

We observed the biofilm in 35 storage cases of rigid gas-permeable contact lenses. The storage cases were collected from follow-up patients when fouling was visible in the cases. Cultivation of solution in the storage cases showed microorganisms in 32 samples (91%), 70% of which were gram-negative rod-shaped bacteria. Numerous bacteria and yeast-like fungi were present in the strata of thick biofilm in the storage cases when observed by electron mictroscopy. The findings show the risk of infection through contamination in storage cases of rigid gas-permeable contact lens that are claimed not to need disinfectants.
