　新鮮例の裂孔原性網膜剥離21眼に対して，光学的干渉断層計OCTで剥離した感覚網膜の断面像を観察した。また，その像と発症からの期間，年齢との関係を検討した。その結果剥離した感覚網膜の66％に分離が生じていた。また，その半数に分離した網膜外層が波を打っていた。分離して外層が波を打っている群は，網膜分離のない群と比較して視力が不良であった。網膜分離の有無は発症からの期間、年齢に関係なかった。

　また，この分離した外層が波を打っていることが新鮮例の裂孔原性網膜剥離の視力が不良である一因と考えた。

We observed the cross-sectional image of the sensory retina in 21 eyes of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment using optical coherence tomography (OCT) . Separation of detached retina, or retinoschisis, was present in 66% of the cases. The separated outer layer showed undulations in half of the cases. These eyes were significantly poorer visual acuity than the eyes without separation. The incidence of retinoschisis was independent of age or duration of retinal detachment.
