　超音波生体顕微鏡（UBM）で，正常人92例156眼の毛様体を観察した。10歳から30歳代の若年群88眼，60歳から80歳代の高齢群68眼である。UBM検査では，角膜輪部の接線方向に8方向で全周をスキャンした。嚢胞が疑われた場合には子午線方向でも検索し，両方向で管腔形成があるものを嚢胞とした。毛様体嚢胞は若年群で69％，高齢群で33％に発見され，有意差があった（p＜0.01）。毛様体嚢胞の頻度は，性と屈折には関係がなく，下側に最も多く，下耳側と耳側がこれに続いた。鼻側，上鼻側，上側には少なかった。嚢胞のある部位と各方向あたりの数には，左右眼の間に高い相関があった。

We observed the ciliary body in 156 eyes of 92 healthy persons using an ultrasound biomicros-cope, UBM. The series comprised 88 eyes of younger persons in the second to fourth decade and 68 eyes of senile persons in the seventh to ninth decade. UBM examinations were performed in 8 directions around and tangential to the corneal limbus. If a cyst of the ciliary body was suspected, the area was examined in the meridional section to confirm its presence. Cyst of the ciliary body was detected in 69% and 32% of eyes in the younger and senile group respectively. The difference was significant (p＜0.01). Its incidence was not related to sex or state of refraction. It was most frequent inferiorly, followed by inferior nasal and nasal sector. It was less frequent in the nasal, superior nasal and superior sectors. There were high and significant corelations between both eyes of the same person regarding the sector and the number of cysts in each sector.
