　大阪府北部の交通事故眼外傷の実態を調査するため，三島救命救急センターにて1985年11月〜1992年12月の症例を対象に検討した。症例は13例15眼であり，20歳台の男性が6例，22〜3時までの深夜事故発生例が7例であった。自動車による事故の10例は，シートベルト未着用であり，8例が診察時に眼球破裂を起こしていた。二輪車による事故の3例は，眼球破裂2例，眼球脱出1例であった。その結果，退院時視力も0〜指数弁に留まった。全国の交通事故眼外傷の統計と比較しても予後不良例が多かった。要因判明のため，交通安全規則の守られ方・事故発生状況を調べた結果，全国に比べ大阪府下ではよくないことが判った。

We reviewed 13 patients with ocular injury due to traffic accident treated in an emergency hospital in northern Osaka district during 7 years through1992. Both eyes were injured in 2 patients. Six were in the twenties of age. Traffic accidents occurred during midnight in 7 instances. The 10 patients who suffered while in their cars were not using seat belts and 8 of them suffered from eyeglobe rupture. The other 3 patients were driving bicycles: 2 suffered from eyeglobe rupture and 1 dislocation of the eyeball. These patients did not recover their vision. The findings show that these patients with severe ocular injury were not keeping traffic rules.
