A 32-year-old female presented with blurring of vision in her left eye since one day before. The left visual acuity was 0.7. Funduscopy showed congenital optic disc coloboma. A flat retinal detachment extended inferiorly from the disc margin. Photocoagulation along the inferior disc margin induced prompt absorption of retinal detachment. Retinal detachment recurred 40 days after her initial visit. It involved the macular area and simulated pit-macular syndrome. Photocoagulation along the temporal margin of the optic disc divided in four sessions induced disappearance of retinal detachment and normalization of vision 4 months later. This case illustrates that photocoagulation may be effective for retinal detachment in an eye with optic disc coloboma.
