　家兎角膜を用い，炭酸ガスレーザーとサーモペンシルによる角膜熱形成術を行い，角膜形状の変化と形態学的変化を比較した。

　その結果，両者同等に角膜を変形させることができた。また適切な条件を没定すれば，炭酸ガスレーザーは臨床的に角膜熱形成術に使用できる可能性があると考えられた。

Thermokeratoplasty changes corneal shape by heating corneal surface with a thermopencil which has a small heater in it. More than 700 cases of keratoconus have been treated by thermokerato-plasty with satisfying results.

This paper compares the effects of CO₂ laser with that of conventional thermokeratoplasty on rabbit corneas. With CO₂ laser, we could make changes in corneal endothelium smaller than with conven-tional thermokeratoplasty by shortening the time of irradiation.
