　人に水晶体移植術後の角膜内皮障害を水晶体全摘出術および二つの術式ごとに比較してみた。

　術後3ヵ月における細胞密度の減少率は，水晶体全摘出術では11％，超枠波乳化吸引術（KPE）は13％，　KPE後に後房レンズ挿入したものでは15％，計画的嚢外摘出術では18％，計画的嚢外摘出術後に後房レンズ挿入したものでは19％であった。

　これより，人工水晶体挿入による角膜内皮障害はほとんどないものと考えられた。また，KPEと計画的嚢外摘出術では角膜内皮障害に関してはKPEの方がすぐれていた。

We evaluated the corneal endothelium in 141 eyes (103 cases) before and after cataract surgery in order to assess the effects of routine intracapsular cataract extraction (ICCE), phacoemulsification, phacoemulsification with posterior chamber lens implantation, planned extracapsular cataract ex-traction (ECCE) and ECCE with posterior cham-ber lens implantation. The corneal endothelium was documented using specular microscope (Keeler-Konan) and the endothelial cell area was measured with an image analyzer.
