Corneal birth injury and morphometry of the corneal endothelial cells

　片眼のデスメ膜に皺襞があり，鉗子分娩の既往のある8症例および鉗子分娩既往のない8症例，合計16症例の臨床所見，角膜内皮細胞の形態計測の結果を報告した。鉗子既往例では，鉗子既往のない例と比較すると，視力不良の例が多く，角膜乱視が高度な例が多かった。強主径線とデスメ膜皺襞との関係は鉗子既往例では平行となっている例が多く，既往のない例では一定ではなかった。

　角膜中央部の内皮細胞をspecular microscopeで写真撮影し，画像解析装置で面積測定した結果，全例患眼の内皮細胞面積は，健限より拡大していた。内皮細胞面積は，鉗子既往の有無による差はなく，視力，角膜乱視，角膜厚との間に相関はみられなかった。

We evaluated 16 cases with unilateral Des-cemet's fold. A past history of forceps delivery was present in 8 and absent in the other 8 cases. Poor visual acuity and marked corneal astigmatism were more frequently observed in cases with a history of forceps delivery than in those without. The direction of the Descemet's fold ran parallel to the steep keratometric meridian in cases with a history of forceps delivery, while there was no definite trend in the direction in cases with no history of forceps delivery.
