緒　言

　網膜芽細胞腫眼に，vitreous seedsの観察されることがあるが，このような症例では，広範囲にわたる腫瘍の浸潤と共に，予後の非常に不良であることが指摘されている^1）。病理学的には，網膜芽細胞腫のvitreous seedsは壊死細胞であること^2,3）がわかつている以外には，特別の所見は報告されていない。

　本編では，vitreous secdsを呈した網膜芽細胞腫の臨床像を分析し，かつ，vitreous seedsの光学顕微鏡所見，電子顕微鏡所見について記載し，これらの意義について論ずる。

Vitreous seeds in retinoblastoma were studied clinically and pathologically on 73 affected eyes. Vitreous seeds were not observed in the patients with tumor involving less than a quadrant of the retina, while they were found in 35-50% of the patients with tumor involving more than a quad-rant of the retina. Patients with vitreous seeds and tumor involving more than 3 quadrants of the retina were found to be serious in prognosis. Vitreous seeds were observed most frequently in patients showing undifferentiated cell type with eudophytum type of proliferation.
