緒言

　1933年R．J．Williams^1）によつて肝の濃縮物中から酵母の発育因子として分離されたパントテン酸（以下PaAと略）は鶏の抗皮膚炎因子^2），鼠の毛髪の抗灰白化因子^3）としても知られ，1940年に合成され人間，各種の動物の栄養にも必要なビタミンであることが明らかになつた。然しその眼科領域に於ける研究は少なく，本邦では未だ臨床面の使用報告に接していない。今回PaAと眼疾患との関係を調べるにあたり，各種眼疾患者の尿中排泄量・血清及び全血中濃度の測定を行い，又PaAを治療に応用し或る程度知見を得たので茲に報告する。

In order to know the relations between pantothenic acid and ocular diseases, we measured pantothenic acid content in urine, in serum and in blood by bioassay with Lactobacillus arabinosus 17—5, of both healthy persons and patients.

The results were as follows :

Pantothenic acid content in urine was 3. 67mg on an average in a day in healthy persons.

Ocular diseases such as keratitis superficialis diffusa, blepharitis marginalis eczematosa and cataracta senilis showed lower rate than control. In other ocular disease, no remarkable difference was found.
