緒言

　第5報^1）2）までに於いて，われわれは約800名に及ぶ高血圧者と非高血圧者の眼底観察の成績を記し，特にその細動脈硬化所見に言及してきた。この際われわれが採用してきた判定規準乃至処理の方向は，次の如くであつた。

　（1）網膜細動脈硬化所見の中で動静脈交叉現象を特に重視した。

From the results which obtained by fundus examination of 794 cases (hypertensives 502, normotensives 237 and hypotensives 55) and reported in five serial papers, authors con-cluded as follows:

1. Among the arteriosclerotic signs of retinal artery, such as arteriovenous crossing phenomenon, increased light reflex and tortuosity, the crossing phenomenon only showed a definite relation with chronic continuous hypertension. Therefore, this is the most reli-able sign when the diagnosis of chronic hypertension is the subject of discussion.
