眼科領域に於けるβ線療法について（その1）—2〜3の角膜疾患について

Beta irradiation in ophthalmology (No.1):On effect of Beta irradiation in the treatment of some corneal diseases

緒言

　近年，放射性同位元素の治療医学上に於ける応用の進展に伴ない，眼科領域に於いても種々のApplicatorが考案され，放射線による障害の危険が非常に減少したので，次第に普及される傾向にある。本邦に於いても既に荻野，斉藤，井上，中泉，鈴木氏等によつて翼状片，春季カタル，蚕蝕性角膜潰瘍等の前眼部疾患に対するβ線療法の治療成績が報告されている。著者等もLedermanの考案になる眼科用Sr90 Applicatorを入手したので，これを使用して種々の前眼部疾患の治療を試みているが，今回は此の中で最近問題となつている2，3の角膜疾患の治療成績に就いて報告する。

β-radiation therapy was administered for several corneal diseases such as herpetic Kera-titis, Mooren's ulcer etc. with ophthalmological Sr-90 applicator of Lederman, and the fo-llowing results were obtained.

1) β-radiation therapy should be applied when other ordinary treatments were found to be ineffective or no effective treatments has been known as in case of herpetic keratitis or Mooren's ulcer.

2) The most remarkable effect of β-radiatoin therapy in herpetic keratitis is the epitheli-zation of an ulcerated surface of the cornea.
