要約　黄斑部の内境界膜の微細構造とこれに含まれる微量元素を検索した。資料は，眼窩腫瘍で摘出した70歳女性の正常な眼球と，黄斑円孔で手術を行った66歳と72歳女性から得られた。微細構造の検索には透過型電子顕微鏡を用い，微量元素はエネルギー分散型元素分析装置で分析した。3試料での黄斑部内境界膜には無構造な基質内に細線維が錯綜し，高電子密度の顆粒を含んでいた。微量元素としては鉄のみが検出され，正常眼と黄斑円孔眼とで差はなかった。

Abstract.　We studied the internal limiting membrane（ILM）in the macula regarding the ultrastructure and trace elements. Materials were obtained from 3 eyes. One was obtained from an enucleated normal eyeball in a 70-year-old woman with orbital malignancy. Two were obtained during surgery for macular hole in females aged 66 and 72 years. A transmission electron microscope was used to study the ultrasutructure. Trace elements were analyzed using an energy dispersive X-ray analyzer. The ILM in all the 3 specimens showed filaments disarrayed in amorphous substance and granular structures of high electron density. Iron was the only trace element detected. There were no differences in the iron content among the 3 specimens.
