気管支喘息に関してはすでに多くの研究が報告されているが，喘息発作時の気道障害を中心にした肺機能障害の病態生理学的研究は未だ十分であるとは云えないので，肺内ガス分布障害を中心にした発作時の肺機能障害について報告する。
1) Lung functions in 72 cases of bronchial asthma were reported with referrence to their lung volumes, ventilation, velocity of ventilatory air flow, intrapulmonary distribution of inspired air and oximeter rate.
2) Decreased vital capacity and remarkably increased residual volume were observed, but increase in total lung capacity was not always significant.
3) Decrease in maximum breathing capacity, in timed vital capacity and in air velocity index was observed.
