Purpose
To investigate the actual conditions of personal storage by nurses working in hospital A, which is a disaster base hospital. The target is medical staff who perform self-conclusion type relief activities in the event of a natural disaster.
Method
We investigated the actual condition of personal storage using a questionnaire we made targeting 438 nurses and nurse midwives working in hospital A.
Result
According to the results of the questionnaire, 63% of the staff have their own storage, but 37% don't. The main reason for no storage, which was as high as 81%, is that they are aware of the necessity of storage, but actually don't prepare it. The storage they prepare is mostly assumed to be that for one day, and the actual content consists 82% of water and 93% of food products.
Conclusion
Although we understand the necessity of storage, we actually cannot take action to prepare it. It is therefore necessary to regularly announce the necessity of storage and to secure adequate space for stored goods. Since the contents and amount of storage are left to every person's own discretion, it seems that there is a need to create and consider a storage model.
