放射線災害は，放射線に関する基礎的な知識をもち，的確な受け入れ訓練を繰り返し行い，その対策を取っていれば対応可能で，闇雲におそれる必要はない。しかし，複合災害や多数傷病者発生事故となった場合には，一般災害に対応する能力も必須となってくる。災害時には，病院をあげた対応が必要であるが，課題は院外の多機関との連携である。中央部門を統括する集中治療医は救急医とともにそのリーダーになり得るため，積極的にDMATや緊急被ばく医療チームにかかわってほしい。

There is no need to be afraid. The ability to respond to global disasters is essential in the event of a complex disaster or an influx of a large number of victims. In response to disasters, the entire hospital must respond. An intensive care physician overseeing an essential department in a disaster response can be a leader along with an emergency physician. The problem requires collaboration among multiple institutions. Intensive care physicians should be actively involved in DMAT and emergency radiation medical teams.
