The threat of terrorism has become an important issue and we need to manage patients with gunshot wounds and blast injuries. Resuscitation of hemorrhagic shock and rapid hemostasis are important in the treatment of patients who suffer gunshot wounds. Intensivists should understand the complex pathology and specificities of multiple trauma with blast injuries, including tourniquets to achieve hemostasis. In the past, after mass casualty incidents (MCIs) such as active shootings and bombings, severely injured patients were transported to the hospital very quickly after the incidents. Most patients required emergency surgery and were then admitted to the intensive care unit. It is essential to formulate preliminary MCI plans to treat victims of active shootings and bombings that emphasize rapid response and safety management.
