  • Look Inside

A male aged 61 years had complained of nasal discharge with bad odor and sensation of swelling on the right cheek. Caldwell-Luc operation was performed and a foreign body was removed. It was a fragement of glass from a broken speedmeter of a motorcycle.

The past history revealed that the patient had the motorcycle accident at the age of 50, and he developed a loss of consciousness for about 3 hours after the accident. The patient, however, had no memory of maxillofacial injury at the time of accident. The author assumed from the operative findings that the fragment of glass penetrated the facial wall of the maxillary sinus and stayed there for a considerable length of time without any remarkable symptoms.
