Immunological studies particularly the tuberculin reactions (PPD) and complement (CH50) studies were made in 10 cases of non-healing granuloma of the nose. These cases consisted of 2 cases of Wegener's granulomatosis, 3 cases of reticulum cell sarcoma and 5 cases of malignant granulomas, in which CH50 was measured after Mayer's method.

Six stage classification of tuberculin reaction and CH50 as suggested by Nishioka et al. were employed with analysis. Stage I is defined as the stage when tuberculin reaction is intact and the CH50 level falls within normal limits. The Stage II is when the tuberculin reaction is intact and the complement level is elevated over 45 CH50. Stage III, when the tuberculin reaction is decreased less than 10 mm redress and the complement level is elevated over 45 CH50.

The complement level was elevated in the active phase of the disease and was depressed or fall within the normal range in a remission of the disease.

In the six stage classification, the group in remission of the disease was most frequently found in stages I and II. On the other hand in the active phase of the disease, they were most frequently found in stages III and IV.
