Among 60 cases of congenital atresia of external ear seen at Otolaryngological Department of Keio University Medical School for the past 6 years, one such a case is observed in an infant born from the mother who had been exposed to atomic bomb irradiation at the time of Hiroshima bombing. The history of this mother shows that she had been affected by irradiation disease, soon after the exposure, with manifestations of symptoms such as chills, fever, nausea, sore throat, failing out of hairs and purpuric hemorrhages. The developmental anomaly manifested in the infant, if due the effects of irradiation it might be the result of influence by dominant characteristics that are observed in many other similar cases. But, in order to determine such a point a further observations of the siblings that may be derived from this particular mother are necessary.
