Ogiba investigates the status of hearing among workers in a certain metal factory and finds that the rate of occupational deaf-ness increases in proportion to the loudness of noise to which the individuals are exposed. Hearing disturbances have an incidence of 30% in the first year that is 30% of the workers are involved during the first year of their employment; such incidence is seento take an acute rise during the ensuing 5 to 10 years of employment, but, thereafter, it seems to maintain a level without much change. The older the individual in age the greater was the incidence in hard ofhearing with C6 dips; the latter condition was found in large numbers among employees whose duration of employment was compara-tively short.
