Isono and associates find that, 100 ears selected at random affected with tinnites aurium, nicotinic acid administered intravenousely to be effective in the following manner:

Thirteen per cent of this number appeared to be cured;8% with a marked improvement; 29% with some improvement; 3% with change in the character of tinnitus;47% with failure by no changes established in the tinnitus. Aside from tinnitus aurium caused by streptomycin therapy, the use of nicotinic acid appear to be effective in allaying of symptoms of this affection particularly among those caused by circulatory disturbances or those in which that are considered as cuase unknown. The effectivity appear to be influenced by duration nature and quality of the tinnitus. The arthors conclude that basic facts causing improvement in the affection may be due not only to the fact that nicotinic acid causes vasodilatation but also to some factors relative to nutrition that are still unknown.
