Hashimoto and Nagai report their obsesvations on 7 cases of Riga's Disease or cachectic aphthae in infants whose ages ranged from 6 to 13 mon-ths (3 boys and 4 girls). Six caees in this group were breast-fed and irregular feeding also num-bered as 6. Two infants were found with shor-tened frenum linguae. Number of erupted teeth ranged from 2-4 among different individuals except one of whom the tooth was yet to be erupted. Microscpically the lesions presented mammary sarcoma, a combination of mammary and fibroma and, granuloma. Following factors may be considered as contributing cause of the disease : (1) Erom oral lesions caused by faulty and/or irregular method of feeding or, by severe paroxysms of cough, (2) From anatomical abnor-malities such as shortened frenum linguae or undue dental irritations, (3) From allergic dia-thesis and allergy, (4) From vitamin difficiencies in B, C or others. Prognosis in general is con-sidered as favorable but surgical treament may be necessary in case tumors enlarge to conside-rable size.
