Hashimoto and Nagai report a case of mental disease which occurred post-operatively follow-ing paranasal sinus operation but, it was not considered as a complicating sequela of the operation because symptoms of progressive par-alysis was present beforehand. The patient showed signs of mental derangement at first by refusals and obstinacies which later progressed to a state of coma. There were complete abo-lishment of eye reflexes in the way of accomoda-tion and reaction to light. Memory also was markedly defective.
