  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

A study was made to determine the efficacy of counting chamber method for screening urinary tract infection in children and infants. Thus the following results were obtained.

1) Leucocyte counts by counting chamber method correlated with colony counts in about 90% of the total specimens of urine evaluated. False negative results were less frequently observed by counting chamber method than that by unstained drop of sediment specimens of urine.

2) No definite differences of false positive results were noted between the random urine and sanitary groups.
