  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

The incidence of bacterial contamination of urine collected by midstream, was more than 90% in female and approximately 50% among male.

False positive was 7% among the female by midstream.

The contaminated bacteria, by midstream, was enterococcus among the female and Staph. epidermidis among the male, but candida and Gram negative rodds, such as E. coli and proteus, were isolated.

The possibility of bacteriuria can not be excluded, inspite that the leucocyte count by microscopic examination of urinary sediment was within normal limits, for the diagnosis of urinary tract infection.
