Idiopathic stenosis of the internal auditory canal is rare and characterized by profound sensoneural hearing loss, vestibular dysfunction and facial palsy.A 23-year-old women complained of a profound hearing loss since her childhood. The other is a 5-year-old boy with hearing loss for two or three years. Common symptoms in these two cases as follows : ①profound hearing loss occurred in child-hood, ②lack of vertigo, but absence of vestibular function, ③lack of facial palsy, ④CT imaging of the narrow internal auditory canal in its whole length. Because of lack of facial palsy, MRI cisternography was done, and the facial nerve was found. We discussed briefly this condition and the literature was reviewed.
