  • Look Inside

Seven oropharyngeal reconstruction have been evaluated with swallowing function studies.

This function studies consisted of two examina-tions which contain the measurement of a volume ofwater held in the oral cavity and the time needed for drinking 50 ml water, in order to evaluate the status of postoperative swallowing function. These exami-nations were proceeded more simply, conveniently, and less morbiditily than any other usual methods. The result showed that the status of postoperative swallowing function does not depend on the recon-structive method, but on the area and magnitude in the oropharynx removed by an ablative surgery.
