  • Look Inside

Asthma, aspirin intolerance and nasal polyps form the triad of aspirin-induced asthma (AIA). Fifty-four cases of AIA, 19 males and 35 females, were seen at our clinic in 1992. Asthma was found in51 of 51 cases (94.4%) and sinusitis in 33 of 52 cases (63.5%). Nasal polyps were found in 35 of 53 cases (66.0%). The prevalence of AIA was about 1% in the patients with sinusitis in our clinic during recent 10 years. In addition, the prevalence of AIA was approximately 4% in the patients with nasal polyps. As mentioned above, AIA is not a rare disease, and we should always pay attention to AIA in the patients with nasal polyps.
