We evaluated the variations of optic disc blood flow by scanning laser Doppler flowmetry (SLDF) in 12 eyes of 6 healthy volunteers. The blood flow was measured 3 times consecutively in each eye. The same procedure was repeated 2 hours and 2 weeks later by the same operator. It was repeated by another operator one month later. The coefficient of variation of measured value by the two operators ranged from 5.0% to 12.4%. Significant differences were present in 3 test subjects. Significant differences were also present in one test subject among the three sessions by the same operator. The findings show that SLDF shows reliable values regarding the coefficient of variation. The measured value may differ significantly between different sessions.
