We evaluated 26 eyes with normal-tension glau-coma regarding high-pass resolution perimetry (HRP), visual field indices by Humphrey automat-ed perimetry and optic disc rim area. Functional channels (FC), which is the visual function index estimated by HRP, was significantly correlated with the mean deviation and the corrected patterns standard deviation of the Humphrey visual field. There was also a significant correlation between FC and the optic disc rim area measured by a Rodenstock analyzer. In 14 early-stage eyes, FC was significantly correlated with the rim area but not with the Humphrey visual field indices. The findings suggest the potential usefulness of HRP in evaluating the amount of functioning retinal nerve fibers in normal-tension glaucoma in its early stage.
