  • Look Inside

We reviewed 110 eyes of 110 patients who underwent sulcus fixation of the posterior chamber lens. The surgery was performed as primary procedure in 73 eyes and as secondary in 37 eyes. The uncorrected visual acuity improved in 100 eyes (91%). Transient ocular hypertention was frequent in the primary group. Corneal endothelial loss one year after surgery averaged 14.4 ± 12.6% in the primary group and 15.4 ± 12.1% in the second. There was no significant difference between the both groups. Postoperative complications included hyphema, vitreous hemorrhage, tilting or dislocation of the lens, and retinal hemorrhage. There were no significant differences in their incidence between both groups. The findings show the usefulness of this surgical procedure. Due precaution is necessary because of occasional postoperative complications.
