Abstract. We reviewed the outcome of penetrating keratoplasty performed during 24 months through June 2000. The series comprised 120 eyes of 113 patients. Keratoplasty was performed for corneal leucoma 57 eyes, bullous keratopathy 51 eyes, keratoconus 6 eyes, corneal perforation 4 eyes, and corneal degeneration 2 eyes. Penetrating keratoplasty alone was performed on 41 eyes. Additional extracapsular lens extraction with intraocular lens implantion was performed on 70 eyes. Postoperative complications included elevated intraocular pressure 17 eyes, graft rejection 7 eyes, and opening of surgical wound following suture removal 2 eyes. A total of 113 eyes could be followed up for 6 months or longer. The visual acuity was less than 0.1 in 11 eyes, between 0.1 and 0.4 in 42 eyes, and over 0.4 in 60 eyes. At the last follow-up,the graft was transparent in 111 eyes(92.5%).
