. We simplified the cowhitch procedure with which the dislocated intraocular lens is sutured to the ciliary sulcus. The blind end of the thread, which is passed through a sulcus-fixation needle,is advanced through the corneoscleral wound into the anterior chamber. The thread is passed anteriorly through the loop of intraocular lens from its posterior aspect. The thread is further pushed anteriorly and, after emerging through the sclerocorneal wound,is tied to form a cowhitch knot. Six eyes were treated by this procedure with success. Vitreous prolapse or collapse of eyeball was absent throughout. After surgery, the intraocular lens was fixated without tilt or decentration. The findings show the usefulness of this simplified procedure.
