  • Look Inside

We reviewed 14 eyes of 14 patients with lens luxation. The luxation was spontaneous in 8 eyes, traumatic in 5 and congenital in 1. The lens was posteriorly subluxated in 9 eyes and totally luxated in the vitreous in 5. The ages averaged 62.6 ± 21.8 years. The eyes were extracted either manually, anterior vitrectomy or pars plana vitrectomy. Sulcus fixation of intraocular lens was performed in 5 eyes. The preoperative complication included iritis and ocular hypertension in 6 eyes. Postoperative complication comprised temporary ocular hypertension in 6 eyes and retinal detachment in 3. All the eyes attained final gratifying results regarding visual acuity and other complications. Vitreous surgery and sulcus-fixated intraocular lens seemed to be the major beneficial factors.
