  • Look Inside

We performed a multiinstitutional study regarding tear film and ocular surface. A total of 2,127 subjects were examined either in January, April, July or October. Dry eye was diagnosed in 359 patients, 17%. These dry eye patients were asked as to the subjective symptoms of ocular fatigue, discharge, foreign body sensation, dry eye sensation, injection, discomfort and ocular pain. These symptoms were significantly infrequent during January than in the other 3 months (p<0.05). The findings show seasonal variations in complaints by dry eye patients.
