  • Look Inside

A 70-year-old female underwent laser iridotomy for acute closed angle glaucoma 5 years before. Her right eye was later treated by basal iridectomy, extracapsular lens extraction and implantation of posterior chamber lens. Automated perimetry showed visual field defects typical for incipient glaucoma. Conventional dynamic perimetry with Goldmann perimeter gave equivocal results.

A 61-year-old female underwent surgery with extracapsular cataract extraction, implantation ofintraocular lens (IOL) and trabeculotomy for both eyes. Primary open angle glaucoma had been pres-ent at least for 3 years. The IOL was well centered in her right eye and was decentered superiorly in the left. Automated static perimetry showed the visual field to have remained unchanged before and 3 months after surgery in the right eye, Definite changes in visual field were noted in the left eye.

It was not possible to determine whether the observed visual field changes in the two pseudopha-kic eyes were real or artifacts due to decenterd IOL.
