  • Look Inside

We evaluated the post-operative clinical course and complications following posterior chamber lens implantation in 199 eyes followed for periods from 3 to 48 months.

The final visual acuity of 20/40 or better was achieved in 92% of the eyes. Pupillary capture was the commonest complication and was observed in 12 eyes (6%). Postoperative endophthalmitis de-veloped in one eye due to Pseudomonas cepacia. Pupillary capture developed in eyes fitted with Shearing or Sinskey type lenses. Decentration de-veloped only in eyes fitted with Simcoe type lens.Transient uveitis occurred in 3 eyes (1.5%) and subsided leaving no sequelae within 2 months.
